One of the more traditional moments of a wedding is the first dance as husband as wife but why is it tradition?
The first article found on google written on a website called Medium says "The first dance between the bride and groom is the most awaited moment for the newly wed as well as the guests. It shows the love and unity between the new couple. The way of dancing, expression and the dancing steps reveal the harmony between the bride and groom. It is an expression of their unending love."
That's a pretty cool reason for a first dance,
In picking the first dance song you could either go with whats popular at the time or go with a song that means something to the two of you. I would definitely go with a song that means something to you. My husband and I couldn't decide and my mom bought a wedding song cd and we danced to whatever song played next. (Eyes look up trying not to make I contact so I don't laugh oo much out loud. ) It turned out to be a great song, " Have I told you lately that I love you" but not gonna lie I forget what it's called half the time...... so I totally recommend picking a song ahead of time to dance to if you can.
Here are some other FIRST DANCE SONG choices:
POPULAR
“Your Song” by Elton John
“A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri
“Marry Me” by Train
“Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran
“Can't Help Falling in Love” by Elvis Presley
“Make You Feel My Love” by Adele
“I Won't Give Up” by Jason Mraz
"All of Me" by John Legend
I asked a friend of mine who is well versed in the music industry what songs he thought would make some awesome first dance choices and this is the list he came up with:
"Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane
"Chasing Cars" by Snow Patrol
"Temporary Love" by Ben Platt
"I Will Follow You into the Dark"- Death Cab for Cutie
"Stolen"- Dashboard Confessional
"You are the Sunshine of My Life" by Jack White
"No Matter What" -Us the Duo
"If I Ain't Got You" by Alicia Keyes
Hope this helps those of you that are preparing to get married. I also hope that those of you that are already married get a chance to reminiscence about your first dance as husband and wife :)
